A scientific study commissioned in the UK shows that a growing number of millenials are shifting away from traditional medicines to help with their mental health and are instead looking to CBD oil.

For the uninitiated, CBD oil, also known as cannabis oil, “is a concentrated cannabidiol (CBD) extract from a particular type of hemp plant called cannabis sativa that has more of the health related benefits associated with cannabis,” Craig Weller, an expert in the field, explained to Mamamia.

“Initial studies suggest that CBD oil has anti-anxiety and antidepressant effects,” Simon Manthorpe, CEO of Eos Scientific said in the study.

CBD oil has been decriminalised for medicinal purposes in Australia but isn’t available over the counter yet.
