It’s refreshing to see a sports code support their own when one of their stars requires time away from the game for mental health reasons, but that’s precisely what’s occurred with St Kilda’s Jack Steven who’s taking some time away from the world of AFL.
This is the second break Jack has taken from the game in as many months, with reports stating the 29-year-old is struggling to cope with the demands of the sport.
“The club and Jack have been working on managing his health and well-being over many months,” the Saints said in a statement. “The best option at present for Jack to fully overcome his challenges is to take an extended break away from football.”
“We don’t have an exact time frame on how long that will be but the club will continue to provide as much support as possible,” the club said about the four time best and fairest champion.
